This study aims at highlights the role of geography in identifying the spatial characteristics of the locations of Multifarious juvenile crimes with their different types in Jeddah province. These crimes were classified into seven types: moral crimes, robbery crimes, assault and battery crimes, traffic violation crimes, crimes of drugs and alcoholic drinks, sabotage crimes and kidnapping crimes. This study was conducted on all residents of the Social Observation House in Jeddah province during Safar, 1432 H. it relied on questionnaire as a tool for collecting data. This study has discussed demographical, educational, social, economic and qualitative characteristics of delinquent juveniles as well as spatial and time characteristics. The results of this study have pointed out that robbery crimes occupied the first rank in these crimes which are committed by delinquent juveniles followed by moral crimes and assault and battery crimes. It was also shown that juvenile crimes are centered in the center of Jeddah province where crimes increase in these districts located in Al-Balad division. This confirms the theory of crime concentration in the city center and that most of delinquent juveniles in Jeddah province have committed their crimes in these administrative divisions where they live. This means that there is a relationship between the criminal residence place and the place where he has committed his crime. In addition, more than three quarters of these crimes have taken place within a distance not more than one kilometer from the residence place of the juvenile criminal. This indicates the short journey for committing crime by juveniles. These crimes that were committed by delinquent juveniles were characterized by the collective feature and the existence of partners in committing crime. Yet, they lack the prior planning. This study has concluded a lot of important recommendations that can in their turn eliminate and defy this phenomenon such as: creating a special database relevant to juvenile crimes, their types, places of their occurrence, times of their occurrence and their numbers at the level of towns and cities of Saudi Arabia since this can in turn contribute to creating studies that are related to this phenomenon. The researcher has employed a number of statistical techniques for the analysis of data of juvenile crimes such as: chi-square, correlation coefficient (Pearson). In addition, some graphic charts and illustrating maps were created for distributing juvenile crimes between the administrative divisions in Jeddah province. |
